Locally in Canada, TJ and I have been actively involved in the Niagara Region, Waterloo, London & surrounding regions, Barrie, Innisfil, Bradford and Toronto ON area real estate investing for a number of years.   Through investing (and lots of sweat equity!) we have been able to realize more financial, time and location freedom, and also fulfill our purpose to make a difference by creating beautiful spaces people can call home (and being good landlords and humans along the way!)! 

As we move into our next chapter, we are excited to be expanding our investing focus down to certain regions in the US and will share some of the reasons why!  and We are also very excited to partner with others to help them realize above average returns on their investment (R.O.I) and capitalize on our different strengths, passions, and available resources.   It is truly a win-win-win way of investing!

TJ has 2 decades of experience in building condos, construction, and as a power line technician in hydro and is now back full circle with his contracting & renovation business.    I am a licensed Realtor, and share TJ’s passion for renovations, and come from a background in dietetics, Corporate Responsibility / Public Relations and also program coordination and teaching in a college setting.   We have developed many skills in project management, financial analysis, and all things renovation, building and design throughout our different careers and investing projects, and love that we are now able to immerse ourselves in this world full time, and share it with our two boys.   Through TJ’s contracting business and my work as a realtor and our experience buying, renovating, tenanting and/or selling over thirty properties, we are focused on bringing value to other investors to help them realize maximum returns on their investments.

Brevity has never been my strong point – (it’s more TJ’s:))!   So I have included more information about us below as we love to get to know and build relationships with all our colleagues, partners and clients, and truly just love connecting with people.

A bit more about Us!

Hello and thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little bit more!   We truly believe in building relationships with all our partners,  clients and colleagues, and look forward to chatting more!

As soon as we met (a little later in life!) TJ and I knew we had found our person, our partner and best friend:)…  So… we jumped both feet in, shook things up with moves, changes in jobs, renting out  our existing homes, living with in-laws:0,  buying our little piece of paradise / fixer upper, having our two awesome boys, and adopting / rescuing many 4 legged friends into the family!  Our goal – to live with more joy, purpose and impact; realize more financial, time and location freedom, and help others do the same wherever we can; inspire and be inspired; leave the world a better place, and…  enjoy the ride along the way!

A definite work in progress and finding the balance is still something we are striving for, but  we are reminded each day by our 2 beautiful free spirited boys, our amazing family and friends and colleagues, and our entourage of sheep (my dad was a Kiwi / New Zealander – it’s in my blood!), goats, a pig, dogs, cats, fish, a sting ray!, a bunny and more to come I am sure – of our why!   Our home is full of freedom, chaos and joy and we embrace it:)

Real Estate has always been something we gravitated to.  Even before we consciously began throwing our energy and enthusiasm into it, we realized we were already leveraging its power.      And we are passionate about building, renovating, making things better, and anything DIY – so it’s a great fit on so many levels.

We each had purchased our first homes in our early 20’s… one of the better money decisions we had made during this time, much thanks to the foresight of some of our loved ones.    We had roommates always to help with all the bills (our first introduction to being a “landlord!”), and when we met we decided to keep our initial properties and rent them – further honing our landlord / tenant relationship and property management skills.    Best part was, we were then able to do some additional renos which we love to do, and leverage equity in these properties  (the flip to yourself strategy), and found our current home  – a fixer upper country bungalow on a couple of acres that gives us the outdoor space we love and lots of room to share our homestead with all our animals and family.

We currently have investments (and also help manage other investors’ properties and renovation projects)  – with multi family, secondary suite conversions, short term rentals, student rentals and single family and have also bought and sold and partnered on flip projects.   We have done extensive renovations on virtually all of our investment properties, helping to increase value and return on investment, and attract quality tenants.    Our current focus is on multi family or adding secondary suites, as well as short term rentals – locally and down south, as we find these strategies best leverage our strengths in renovations and management, and provide great opportunities for cash flow.   We also do property management and help investors buy, sell, renovate and tenant properties and create and manage successful short term rentals – more to come on Tina’s CompassBNB side of things!

We truly believe we have found what we were meant to be doing:)!    Real Estate allowed us to enjoy 3 months camping in our travel trailer in the Florida keys when our boys were just 1 and 3 and we can’t wait to do something like this again!  It enabled us to leave our full time salaried jobs where we found ourselves trading time for money and never having enough of either for some reason!  Especially time!   And it enabled us to now pursue a new balance working across several areas of real estate, choosing how we leverage our time for the best returns – including having much more of it with our family / boys and each other.  It also opened the doors to meeting so many amazing people that inspire us and push us, and we are so grateful for the friends we have met (and continue to meet:), the masterminds and coaching programs we are a part of, and the ability to always be learning and growing:)

So here we are!   We are driven, love being challenged, and determined to reach our goals, and help others do the same – through this amazing vehicle of Real Estate.

We love this work and world, having our friends and family closely surrounding us, and helping them out however we can.   In our “spare time” we are always outdoors – TJ a motor-powered guy– loves his dirt biking / motocross; boating; snowmobiling, but also fishing with our boys and building things!   I am at my happiest on / in / near water – kite surfing, wake boarding, running, or enjoying the outdoors with our little men and learning or cooking  something new.
